Some of my Approaches

As a humanistic, person-centred clinician, my approach is tailored to you. As I value continual growth and awareness, some of my personal theoretical approaches include the following.

Internal Family Systems

IFS see's the mind as containing many “Parts,” that comprise an internal system often defined around a traumatic experience. IFS believes that people have an inherent internal capacity for healing, known Self, that acts as our intuitive, core emotional and intellectual center. (Hodgdon, Anderson, Southwel, Hrubec Schwartz, 2022)

CBT/DBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection of thoughts and behaviours to move towards adaptive changes. The main goal of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (dBT) is to teach individuals the skills they need to cope amongst stress (Apsche & DiMeo, 2012).

Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma-informed practice (TIPs) considers the prevalence of early/childhood trauma and its subsequent impacts on a person's development, learning, and well-being (Morgan, Pendergast, Brown, & Heck, 2015).

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy aims to separate the individual from the problem, externalizing their issues rather than internalize them. It relies on the person's own skills and sense of purpose to lead them through challenging times (Narrative Therapy, 2017).

Somatic Focused Therapy

Somatic Psychotherapy integrates the holistic view of a person into counselling, meaning the mind, body, and soul. This approach utilizes connection to the body and mind when processing emotions and trauma and developing one's sense of self (Conger,1994).

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy ingrates the totality of a person's experiences (even subconscious) when approaching their counselling goals. Often, this can appear as a series of investigative questions to reveal inner thoughts and truths that can lead to healing and understanding (Gabbard, 2017).
